eCommerce Technical Manager
ROLE TITLE: eCommerce Technical Manager
PURPOSE:
To have overall responsibility for the design and build of the company web sites. Manage and develop a team of 4-5 web designers who will design and build pages as required for the web sites using relevant technologies such as XHTML and CSS.
To oversee specified development projects from concept, through specification to delivery working with both internal and external resources.
Context and Responsibilities
To instigate and deliver improvements to the on-line business with the overall aim of increasing both the customer experience and sales
Evaluate, specify and manage the delivery of certain e-commerce development projects using both internal technical staff and third party agencies
Define, communicate and monitor the design standards of the ecommerce business, ensuring that all design staff adhere to agreed standards, and use coaching where appropriate to address any issues.
Work closely with the commercial and sales and operations managers to understand commercial requirements, and offer creative technical solutions and improvements to achieve those commercial aims.
Development and enhancements to the Content Management System to drive further efficiencies into our processes and the processes of the wider business
Use an in depth knowledge of the latest developments in this arena to ensure that DSGIB are utilising any suitable new technologies or ideas that may improve the proposition or cost position.
Use personal expertise and any relevant internal and external resources to improve the natural search listings on major search engines such as Google and Overture.
Proactively act on any relevant customer feedback that identifies areas for improvement, and then deliver the relevant solutions.
Ensure the websites satisfy the Disability Discrimination Act or any similar legislation.
