IT Director

ROLE TITLE: IT Director

RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and follow an IT strategy & 3 year planning processes throughout development of operational plans to drive standardisation on both applications and infrastructure within the businesses.
Continually develop the IT team and structure towards “one team”, drive shared services and maintain SLA’s to improve the service delivery to the end user and overall business.
Manage the IT budget, capex and expense, deliver year on year reductions in some areas to allow re-investment in areas that best support the overall business goals of organic growth, margin enhancement and overall increased productivity.
To ensure adherence to all UTC Company Policies, Standards & Procedures. Support both Internal and external IT audit processes.
Drive innovation and evolve plans to meet emerging disruptive technologies.
Contribute significantly to the company management team outside core IT functional areas in the achievement of business objectives.

KEY TASKS / ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE
Provide overall leadership and day to day management of the IT function, resources, holidays, absence, prioritisation of tasks, SLA’s, service issues & performance of applications and infrastructure.
Maintain a skills and competencies matrix by staff supported by a training and development programme to ensure the IT function is effectively resourced to meet the needs of the business.
Project Management and project governance to ensure significant projects are delivered to time, to budget, meeting the business objectives as outlined in the appropriate business case supporting the investment. Implement UTC FS I-Plus standard solutions where appropriate.
Ensure compliance to UTC IT Policies, Standards and Procedures including the maintenance of IRS (Issue Resolution System) to record & remediate control weaknesses.
Implement processes that support the achievement of the IT scope as redefined annually.
Ensure a pass rating on all internal and external IT audits.
Drive innovation in the use of new technologies to reduce costs and improve user experience & resilience of IT services. Record all cost reductions in the MSR.
Use and maintenance of the global IT planning tool, PlanIT, delivery of budget inputs to the published deadlines, maintain an accurate asset management solution and apply standard asset refresh cycles. IT costs as % of revenue should be maintained close to the 1.5% benchmark for service businesses.
Ensure the continuous development of the solution to drive increased productivity in the business.
Provide support to global and regional initiatives as may be defined & prioritised from time to time.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
Essential
Good knowledge of all aspects on IT Infrastructure (LAN, WAN, Security, Active Directory, Exchange, Servers, Data Centres and associated equipment & services).
Good knowledge of all aspects of business applications & associated business processes in a multisite sales & service organisation (ERP, best of breed, sales, install, service, billing and financial processes and associated technologies).
Good commercial awareness and able to contribute not just at an IT functional level.
Track record of success in IT management aligned to our requirements above.
Full Clean Driving Licence and able to travel

Experience of working with ERP solutions or SAP.
