ROLE TITLE: IT Programme Manager – Infrastructure
PURPOSE
To provide successful delivery of major IT change programmes across the IT infrastructure of the company in a diligent, commercial fashion to budget and within tight timelines. To lead programmes and multiple streams of activity focused upon but not restricted to IT Infrastructure.
MAIN AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Build positive relationships with external suppliers and internal customers across the company, including commercial colleagues, IT team, service providers and to support the focused delivery of programmes/projects within portfolio.
Operational leadership of third-party project managers in delivering agreed objectives.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Devise, implement and deliver appropriately robust processes for all streams of project activity within scope, ideally in line with PRINCE2 practice, or similar tailored to the needs of the business.
Ensure compliance with programme governance processes.
First-class project initiation, considering objectives, available resources, timelines, quality goals, measurement, risks and project ‘milestones’.
Provide overall accountability for the delivery of project(s) within assigned portfolio across the business to agreed time, cost, quality and function measures.
Support the quantification of business case and business benefits of programmes/projects within own portfolio (working alongside business, IT colleagues and third-parties).
Ensure that programmes/projects within portfolio meet business needs and benefits are realised and measurably improve levels of performance through lessons learned where possible.
Establish multiple projects within own portfolio in line with business/IT strategy and agreed business requirements.
Undertake regular assessment of programme priorities, resolving resource conflicts and establishing agreed solutions.
Undertake formal reviews and implementation reviews of assigned programmes/projects to critically assess work carried out and benefits obtained.
Drive the development of programme and project management capability within the business.
Ensure the delivery of consistent project management processes, methodologies, disciplines and standards across the practice through the establishment of clear methodology and training/development of colleagues in line with best practice.
Ensure optimum use of resources across programmes/projects to enable accurate forecasting and deployment of resources across the portfolio of projects.
Provide agreed regular progress updates and status reports against programmes/projects within portfolio at business/project meetings and forums.
Manage the overall budget for assigned portfolio of projects adhering to internal financial processes and standards.
Work with colleagues to resolve project/programme issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage cross-dependencies between projects delivering solutions across the business.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Demonstrable experience of Project and Programme Management
Experience of managing large scale, multiple projects/programmes
Business case development
Experience of undertaking benefits realisation activity
Experience of resource planning and deployment of expertise
Proven track record of delivery of multiple projects
Supplier/contract management skills
Good supervisory and organisational skills
Ability to build and maintain relationships
Good written and oral communication and presentation skills
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Ideally, relevant Project Management qualification: Practitioner Certificate in Prince2, Fellow of the Association for Project Management (or equivalent)
